화보 촬영 후에 이어진 인터뷰에서는 '오징어 게임'의 '새벽' 캐릭터와 모델이자 배우 정호연 자신에 대한 이야기를 풀어냈습니다.

 

정호연은 "새벽을 연기하면서 우리는 인간답게 살아야 한다는 걸 배웠다. 캐릭터를 통해 삶을 배우기도 하고, 답을 찾기도 하는 게 연기라는 것 같다. 다음 캐릭터를 만나면 또 다른 생각을 할 수 있게 될 것 같아 설렌다"라며 연기에 대한 생각을 밝혔습니다.

 

신인의 마음가짐

또 "모델로 경험을 쌓으며 사람들이 나를 믿어주는 것도 좋았지만, 낯선 환경에서 경험 없는 미숙한 사람으로 존재하는 것 또한 매력적인 일 같다. 모든 게 새롭고 받아들이는 속도도 빨라지고 어떤 일도 관성적으로 생각하지 않게 된다"라며 경력 있는 모델이지만 신인 배우로서 데뷔하게 된 마음가짐을 드러내기도 했습니다.

 

폭발적 팔로우 증가

최근 40만 정도였던 팔로워 수가 이제 1천9백만에 육박하며 수많은 해외 셀럽들이 자신을 팔로우한 것에 대해서는 "제가 좋아하고 존경하는 분들이 '오징어 게임'을 봤다는 게 놀라울 뿐이다. 젠데이아 콜먼이 저를 팔로우한 것이 가장 신기했다"라고 밝혔습니다.

 

이어 "앞으로 고레에다 히로카즈, 폴 토마스 앤더슨, 쿠엔틴 타란티노, 봉준화 감독 등과 함께 작업을 해 보고 싶다"라고 말하며 연기에 대한 숨김없는 열정과 설렘을 표현하기도 했습니다.
